2nd Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research


Following the considerable success of its first edition (held on March 2009 in Brussels, Belgium / 320 participants / 50 different countries represented) the 2nd Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research will bring together Sub-Saharan African, Caribbean and European organisations to address the development of collaborative projects on ICT research.

This 1-day event scheduled for the 4th February 2010- (PLEASE NOTE THE SECOND CHANGE OF DATE) organised by the European Commission (DGINFSO) with the support of the African Union Commission (AUC) and the EU/FP7 EuroAfrica-ICT project - will be a unique opportunity for event attendees to:
  • Network with key stakeholders in the field (private and public sector)
  • Identify potential cooperation partners
  • Get updated on the ³EU-AU Partnership on Science, ICT and Space (the 8th Partnership) and the EC/AUC/ACP Programmes
  • Hear about opportunities to enhance African participation in the European 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7)
  • Get detailed information on successful EU-African FP7 cooperation projects and EU-African PPP (Public-Private Partnerships)

CAS has been working with a group of partners to raise awareness issues in ICT in Africa and the Caribbean. An  awareness workshop was held at The University Of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Jamaica on the 18-19 March 2009 .  This was being sponsored by EuroAfriCa-ICT and Winds Caribe.

Immediately following the awareness workshop the Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research was held in Brussels at the European Commission, 25-26 March 2009. A draft agenda has been provided.
